קבוצת ווסטרוויל והחלוצים לפלסטינה

ספרו של ד"ר הנס סחיפרס, Hans Schippers, בתרגומה מהולנדית לעברית של תניא רונן.

הספר הוא מסמך היסטורי מרתק המתחיל בתיאור התנועות החלוציות במזרח ומערב אירופה שהוו את הגרעין לתנועות החלוציות בהולנד, ממשיך בצעירים יוצאי גרמניה שעברו להולנד בעיקבות עליית הנאציזם בכלל ולאחר ליל הבדולח, בנובמבר 1938 בפרט.

לאחר הסקירה ההיסטורית נכנס סחיפרס לתיאור הקמתה של המחתרתהמיוחדת בהולנד, שכללה חברים נוצרים (כולם זכו להכרה כחסידי אומות העולם) לצד חבריהם היהודים, כשלכולם מטרה משותפת – הצלת יהודי הולנד.

חברי הקבוצה בהובלתו של יופ ווסטרוויל מתוארים כבני אנוש בשר ודם, על גדולתם כמו גם על חולשותיהם.

לדעת החברים שלקחו חלק בפעילות הקבוצה, אם כפעילים ואם כניצולים, וזכו לקרוא הספר, ספר זה הוא הממצה מבין הספרים שנכתבו על פעילות קבוצת ווסטרוויל ומצטרף בכך לספרה של עדינה כוכבא "המחתרת החלוצית בהולנד הכבושה".

CV Hans Schippers

Hans Schippers (born in 1946) studied social history (MA) at the University of Tilburg. He received his PhD from the Erasmus University Rotterdam on a study of the Dutch radical rightwing organizations Zwart en Nationaal   Front 1934-1946

Hans Schippers worked for about 30 years as a historian of technology at the University of Technology Eindhoven (TU/e). He co-operated on various projects, including books about the history of technology in the Netherlands in the 19th and 20th centuries and a book on the history of the TU/e. He also co-ordinated a series of lectures on Peace, Security and Technology. For this lectures, he published articles on various aspects of the political situation in the Middle East.

After his retirement, Hans Schippers became an Associate Researcher at the Netherlands Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies (NIOD) in Amsterdam. In this position, he wrote a book on the history of the Westerweel group and the Palestine Pioneers.

Hans Schippers visited Israel for longer periods in 1968, 1970 and 1973. During his last visit, he stayed in kibbutz Yakum for about six months to work on a paper about the history of the Mapam. During his stay in Yakum, he met and worked with former pioneers Shaul Sagiv and Chanan Florsheim and other members of the group.

Hans Schippers' book on De Westerweelgroep en de Palestinapioneers was published in Dutch in 2015 by Uitgeverij Verloren in Hilversum.
