Jaap Lambeck

The treatment of those who hid

Back in 1941, I came into contact with Jaap Lembeck, who worked in Amsterdam, in a factory where a protest strike against the persecution of the Jews broke out in February

I helped Lambeck in forging papers and looking for hiding places for those hiding

In August 1942, I participated in the hiding of the children from the "Beit Aliyat Hanoar" (Paviljoen Loosdrechtse Rade} For this purpose I contacted a group of students from Utrecht. In Apeldoorn I often visited Mrs. Westerweel and others

Due to the arrest of my parents, I went underground in the spring of 1943, but I continued with the contact operation and taking care of the certificates. I also helped with fingerprinting. Later I Ghelped Frans Gerritsen set up hiding places

After the arrest of Will Westerweel and Giel Salome, I frequently visited the villages of Sevenum and Gvorstrubben in the province of Limburg. Hundreds of people were hiding in these places and it was necessary to take care of them

In the summer of 1944, when all men were forbidden to be on the road, I took on, some of Hari Asher's work in Friesland. At that time I did not had a permanent address and I used to sleep here and there. I owned a house in Amsterdam under my fake name, where 8 people lived

After the imprisonment of Joop and Bouke, in March 1944, I had to leave this house. I consulted regularly with Jan Smit and Tinus Schaabink, but after the "crazy Tuesday" it was impossible to go further south, and my activity was reduced to the Friesland district only
